Corporate events and private tours

Museo Reina Sofía offers companies and institutions spaces for holding corporate or social events. These can be complemented with exclusive private tours around its major Collection of modern and contemporary art, spanning from the end of the nineteenth century to the present day.

To the backdrop of unique architecture comprising the Sabatini and Nouvel Buildings, congresses, meetings, cocktail receptions, gala dinners and film productions can be organised in highly versatile spaces.

Renting spaces

The Museo has a total of 11 spaces available for hire: 3 Auditoriums, the Nouvel Rooftop Terrace, the Sabatini Garden, 2 Cloisters in the Sabatini Building, the Nouvel Protocol Room, the Nouvel Lobby, the Board of Trustees Room and the Nouvel Courtyard.

The Nouvel Building

Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, this architectural ensemble aligns with the south-east facing façade of the Sabatini Building and the triangular site that precedes it. In its construction Nouvel built three new modules to respect the site of the three pre-existing buildings.

Since its unveiling, the visitor flow has a more plural structure on account of the new building providing an alternative entrance and boasting different connections between the Sabatini galleries and the new Nouvel spaces – a layout which creates different possibilities for exploration and clearly distinguishes between service areas and exhibition spaces.

Founded as Hospital de San Carlos in the 18th century, the Sabatini Building takes its current name from Francisco Sabatini, a renowned architect commissioned with the hospital’s construction.

Operating as a hospital until 1965, in 1977 it was declared one of Spain’s Historic-Artistic Monuments and, three years later, underwent a renovation to house exhibitions, before becoming what is today’s Museo Reina Sofía in 1990.

Its renovation also made use of the unfinished contours of the hospital: its lack of façade was replaced with monumental glass and steel towers to house external lifts, one of the building’s current distinguishing features.

Private tours

The Museo Reina Sofía opens its doors exclusively to those interested in having a unique experience – a comprehensive private tour around the masterpieces of modern and contemporary art that hang in its galleries.

Guernica

The programme of guided tours is geared towards individuals, companies and organisations that wish to offer their clients or employees the special and preferential chance to discover the Museo and its exhibitions. Furthermore, there is the possibility of thematic tours tailored to the interests – architecture, theatre, history, movements, etc. – of the attendees.

Private tours can be rounded off with a drink, cocktail reception, lunch or dinner in one of the spaces rented out by the Museo for such purposes, or, in the same available spaces, they can serve as the perfect accompaniment to a work meeting, congress or company event organised in the Museo.
