Gregory Crewdson
Dream of Life
The photography of Gregory Crewdson, following a constructed narrative thread, has situated its creator among an ensemble of figures who have renewed the art form since the 1990s. Darcey Steinke’s text for this catalogue interlaces her experiences with the atavistic terrors related to the sexuality, violence, death, decomposition and religion that appear in Crewdson’s different photographic series. The volume concludes with a wide-ranging interview that sees Crewdson explore narrativity, romanticism, voyeurism and the influence of Marcel Duchamp.
